DJ AM: DJ Hero

According to GameInformer:
Tragic news broke this weekend when famed disk jockey DJ AM was found dead in his apartment in New York. No official cause of death has been given, but many speculate that the 36 year old ultimately lost his life due to an accidental overdose.

An ambassador within the DJ community, Adam Goldstein was touted as one of several playable characters in Activision’s upcoming music title DJ Hero. Having worked closely with DJ AM on the project, we can imagine that the news came to Activision staffers as a shock. DJ Hero is a music video game which simulates turntables, allowing players to DJ (scratch and mix) songs.

Tim Riley, Activision’s Vice President of Music Affairs, spoke directly to Game Informer. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of DJ AM, who was a tremendous talent, a trusted partner and friend to DJ Hero,” said Riley. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. AM Was instrumental in the making of DJ Hero and we hope that his work on the game will be a fitting tribute to his creative spirit and musical talent.”

Riley also confirmed that the game will not be delayed. Slated to release October 27, it’s tragic that the talented musician will not be able to see the project to fruition. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

In this video clip (about 2 minutes into the video) DJ AM talks about the game:

DJ AM Dies at Age 36

Adam Goldstein, also know as DJ AM was found dead this afternoon in New York City after a friend made a call to police.

A friend who has not heard from DJ AM in several days went to check up on him, and with no response after knocking on his apartment door, called police. Finally the fire department was able to enter his apartment and found the body.

Adam was found in his apartment at around 5:00 PM. A pipe used to smoke drugs was found at the scene. According to TMZ:
"A law enforcement source on scene tells TMZ a glass "crack pipe" was found in his bedroom. The pill bottles were found in the kitchen."

They also claim that DJ AM was very upset about his break-up with girlfriend, Hayley Wood. They broke up sometime last week, Hayley called off the relationship.

AM was also dealing with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) from last year's plan crash with friend Travis Barker.

His death comes less than a year ago since DJ AM and Travis Barker survived a plane crash in South Carolina. Four people died in the crash. DJ AM and Travis Barker were the only survivors.

DJ AM was sober for the last nine years, but it is believed that the plane crash and upset from his split from Hayley may have influenced him to relapse.

ASAP

Fans anxiously awaiting the release of Sean Murphy's debut album "One Life" will have to wait a little longer, but at least Sean gives us something to hold us over in the meantime(think of it as an appetizer before the meal!).

So what's the deal? Sean's album release has been delayed, but I have been hearing from sources that Sean is getting bites from the big fish in the music industry.

Knowing Sean, he is sorry to his very supportive friends (cough) and fans, and he wants the album release ASAP as much as we do.

Luckily, there will be a new released date scheduled in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, his new single LONELY SOLDIER will be available on Itunes and Amazon Aug 28, 2009 with a trailer of the new video.

Stay tuned!

Former Playboy model Jasmine Fiore was strangled to death and left in a suitcase that was found Saturday morning in Buena Park, California. Jasmine was a finalist on the pre-taped VH1 reality competition “Megan Wants a Millionaire,”.

32-year old Canadian reality TV star Ryan Jenkins is the person of interest in the disappearance and death of Jasmine Fiore, and is currently on the run. Ryan Jenkins and Jasmine Fiore were married at a wedding ceremony in Las Vegas in March 2009. Jasmine Fiore had the marriage annulled in May 2009.

Police claim that Ryan Jenkins has an abusive history and has been charged with domestic violence in Nevada for hitting Jasmine. Police also reveal that Jenkins beat up a former girlfriend in his hometown - Calgary, Canada. Ryan Jenkins reported Fiore missing to police on Saturday evening. According to CBC news, "He did report his significant other as missing and when we attempted to re-contact him to conduct further investigation, we've not been able to contact him. We find that suspicious,". "At this point, he's merely a person of interest that we'd like to speak to. "His SUV and an empty boat trailer were found late Wednesday at a marina in Blaine, Washington, which is just three miles from the Canadian border. Jenkins is believed to have crossed the border near Vancouver, Canada by foot.

Cops were told that a man matching Jenkins' description boated to a peninsula near Canada. There is a $10 million bail out on Ryan and police have said Ryan may be armed with a handgun.

Funny People

It would be a great injustice to my friends NV, Happy Kevin and Stevie if I did not give a shout out to some of the funniest people around right now.

I would have to say that the Flight of the Conchords cast are definitely some of the funniest people I have heard about recently. By far, my favorite character is Mel (real name: Kristen Schaal). Schaal had her first break when she was included in New York Magazine's "The Ten Funniest New Yorkers You've Never Heard Of

Best known for her role on HBO's Flight of the Conchords, Kristen Schaal plays the stalker-fan of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. She was also a writer and credited consultant for South Park, Season 11. She also appeared on the BBC's Never Mind the Buzzcocks as a contestant on Noel Fielding's Team, and played a boss in Fuse's mockumentary The Intern.

I have compiled a few Flight of the Conchord clips for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
